Julio Micheli (1937-2014, Ponce, Puerto Rico) first studied engineering at the Colegio de Agricultura y Artes Mecánicas in Mayagüez and the University of Miami in Coral Gables, Florida. There he discovered his passion for the visual arts and changed the focus of his studies, graduating in 1962 with a Major in Arts. He did post graduate work at the Claremont School in California and in 1965 received a Master in Arts with a concentration in painting.
Upon his return to the island he dedicated himself both to painting and the art of the silkscreen. Micheli's paintings and prints have received numerous awards and form part of important public and private collections on the island and abroad. - Source: Arte Foundation
